Mediterranean chameleon gets a springtime snack
The blossoming trees of spring are perfect hideouts for Mediterranean chameleons looking for an afternoon snack.
The Mediterranean chameleon, also known as the common chameleon, ranges throughout the Mediterranean region. It lives in trees and bushes, where it slowly stalks its prey. In a flash, the chameleon's tongue darts out to capture unsuspecting insects flying by.
Then it's back to meandering through the blooms. The chameleon is an adept tree climber, using its nimble toes and tail to navigate between branches of trees and shrubs. It's all in a day's work for this adorable reptile.
