On a recent stroll through the streets of Jerusalem, we spotted many things – beautiful scenery, college football fans, and even a rock star. But one thing we kept on seeing, time and time again, was street art.

It seems when you're in this Mediterranean city, you don't need to head to an art gallery to see stunning paintings. Case in point are the two shown here painted on the wall of a building. We saw these recently while walking down a busy Jerusalem thoroughfare.

While some street art can inspire, others are there merely to give us pause and a brief interlude to an otherwise mundane workday. These whimsical paintings of acrobats and musicians simply made us smile.

Sara Burmenko, who works at the Center for Puppetry Arts in midtown Atlanta, often takes walks on her lunch break to get inspired. "Street art is like an exclamation point in the middle of my day!" she told From The Grapevine.

As the famed graffiti artist Bansky one said: "Speak softly, but carry a big can of paint.”
