The 9th annual Jerusalem Festival of Lights kicked off Wednesday and, as usual, thousands came out for the opening night.

The week-long event, which draws some quarter million people from Israel and abroad, sees Jerusalem's Old City transformed into an interactive light show that's free to the public.

This year, artists from 17 different countries including the United States, Canada and France contributed the 40 installations and shows that will delight adults and children alike.
