Elton John kicks off summer concert series for 40,000 fans
Legendary singer launched seven-week European tour Thursday night.
The Rocket Man rocked out Thursday night in front of 40,000 fans at Yarkon Park, in the coastal Israeli city of Tel Aviv.
Miriam Gold, who grew up singing Elton John's songs in the 1980s in Worcester, Mass., now lives in Israel. “The show was great," she told From The Grapevine. "He played lots of old stuff and also played some new things."
She said “Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me” was her favorite song of the night but that "Crocodile Rock," had the crowd up and dancing. "People loved it and it was a perfect night in Tel Aviv."

This was the first big headliner to kick off the summer concert season in Israel. Also scheduled to perform are Pharell Williams, Alice Cooper, Barry Manilow, Duran Duran, Wiz Khalifa, Sia and the Beach Boys' Brian Wilson. Those acts are in addition to the annual Tel Aviv Blues Festival and the Red Sea Jazz Festival.
