When lion meets bowling ball, the results are a must-see

Kingpins of the jungle: Video captures safari lions playing with a bowling ball.

Ever have one of those days when you feel like you're chasing a bowling ball on a zipline?

Yeah, us neither.

At Israel's Ramat Gan Safari, though, it only took less than two minutes for a group of lions to find a handful of different ways to play with this new addition to their habitat – a bowling ball hooked up to a pulley system that runs above the lions' heads across their enclosure – and turn a seemingly ordinary day at the safari into a fun adventure.

It appears that their first instinct was to try to rub against their new toy. (These are cats, after all.) But then, another idea strikes the pride: Maybe we can pull it down! Come on guys, a little help here? Then, after a few seconds of futile grabbing, pushing and chasing, the majestic cats realized this was a battle they were probably going to lose.

So, it seems, they went back to the tried-and-true massage technique, letting the ball gently run across the sides of their bodies, then running away and coming back, chasing it some more, and letting the whole thing start over again. All in all, it was a fun moment of exploration and play for these stunning animals, whose caregivers are constantly devising ways to keep them engaged, active and stimulated.

So what's next? Stay tuned for the animals' debut as the first-ever all-lion bowling league. (Just kidding. Or are we?)
