Homeowner installed a 10,000-gallon aquarium in his living room

Eli Fruchter's aquarium is one of the largest in the world, contains 30 species of fish and is big enough to swim in.

Why go to the aquarium when you can bring the aquarium to you, right? That's what Eli Fruchter was thinking when he built a 10,000-gallon aquarium in his home in Haifa, Israel.

Filled with 150 fish of 30 different species, the Israeli businessman built the aquarium in 2012 to realize a childhood dream. He has since posted two videos on YouTube about it, both of which have earned hundreds of thousands of views.

Fruchter said the tank is the largest home aquarium in Israel – and most likely one of the largest in the world. So large is it that he can scuba dive inside, which he does from time to time.

For all that, Fruchter spends a lot of time and energy on maintenance.

According to Israeli media, Fruchter replenishes 1,000 liters of the tank’s contents with fresh seawater from the nearby Mediterranean Sea each week. And there's a complicated filtration system he must oversee – more of which you can learn about in the video below:
