Watch Kathie Lee's touching tribute to her late husband, Frank Gifford
'Today' show co-host traveled to Israel to revisit some of her spouse's favorite locales.
Last week, we told you about a recent trip that Kathie Lee Gifford took to Israel. The "Today" show co-host says she's been traveling to the Mediterranean country for 45 years.
Kathie Lee was married to NFL Hall of Famer Frank Gifford for nearly 30 years, until he passed away in 2015. The couple traveled to Israel frequently, and this was the first time she had been back since his passing. She took along family and friends and paid special tribute to her late husband by visiting his favorite places in Israel, which you can see in the video below.
One such locale was the town of Caesarea. Now a national park, the site spans more than 125 acres and includes a Roman amphitheater, a hippodrome (where 20,000 people once watched chariot races), a massive aqueduct, palace ruins and much more, all set against the sand and beauty of the Mediterranean.
In the video, Kathie Lee told the story of how Frank, one of America's most iconic sports announcers, would pretend he was calling a football game at Giants stadium while standing atop the hippodrome.
"He jumped up here, went over to the edge and said, 'Good evening, everybody, and welcome to Giants stadium. It's a roaring crowd tonight here. The hippodrome is full of people just anxious for a good fight!'" she recalled. "He loved it here."
