All about RiniKini, the brand that turned heads at Tel Aviv Fashion Week
Once a crochet swimwear line, RiniKini has expanded its collection to make women feel like sun goddesses.
When RiniKini founder Rinat Golan launched her luxury swimwear company a few years ago, the word of the day was "crochet." Golan did much of the handiwork herself, drawing from the popular bohemian trends at the time. Or, as she herself explained in a blog post from 2017: "Botanical themes and living in harmony with the natural world."
Indeed, Golan's unique floral designs and flattering silhouettes propelled her brand to international acclaim. Last year, the Israeli-born designer, a graduate of Shenkar College of Engineering and Design who now lives in Nottingham, England, made her international runway debut at Tel Aviv Fashion Week, which Golan called "a dream come true."
"Amongst the lustrous sparkle that settled in Tel Aviv on Sunday night, we saw our dreams become a reality as RiniKini took its first step in an exciting new direction," Golan said.
That new direction? Crochet out, goddess in.
That direction was front and center this week for RiniKini's second annual appearance at Tel Aviv Fashion Week, as models shimmered in gold, beads and jewels over striking patterns.
Recently, Golan explained the source of some of her inspiration.
"We make a few creative trips to Delhi each year and fly out every season to check in on our RiniKini designs; develop new swimwear shapes; and decide on future season’s creative direction," she said. "The spirited Indian capital is a very special place to us, and visits there always unearth new and unexpected sources of design inspiration alongside a bounty of new fabrics and textures to explore."
