Whether in Paris or Tel Aviv, there's always somewhere to celebrate the spirit of Independence Day.

Despite the charms and beauty of other cultures and countries, there's still no place like home. For Americans traveling or living overseas during the July 4th holiday, this is especially true on a day traditionally filled with fireworks, BBQs, and festive parades. Fortunately, there are many American-themed restaurants around the world specializing in giving expats a small taste of home. So break out those flags, grab a hotdog, and check out a slice of international Americana below.

1. American Dream | Paris, France

Advertised as the "largest American space in Paris," the American Dream restaurant not only specializes in Tex Mex and California sushi, but also features celebrity lookalikes, a DJ, and a piano bar. You can bet that come Independence Day this place won't just be rocking, but overflowing with adoration for all things USA. Bonus: Because this is Paris, American Dream also features evening entertainment from go-go dancers.


2. NOLA Bakery | Tel Aviv, Israel

Walk through the heart of Tel Aviv and you'll invariably smell the alluring aromas of the NOLA Bakery. Owner and manager Talya Rasner was born in New Orleans and later moved to Israel; but she never forgot her southern heritage. The result is a mouth-watering array of freshly-baked goods including blueberry muffins, Mississippi mud pies, chocolate chip cookies, pop tarts and pumpkin cheesecake. And yes, they also make themed goods for American holidays – so be sure to stock up on red, white and blue cookies for your July 4th celebrations.


3. Frankie's Bar and Grill | Shenzhen, China

Frankie's Bar and Grill promises expats living in China not only the finest in American service, but also the best burgers, fries, and milkshakes in the country. As you would expect, they're also big on celebrating July 4th and since 2012 have thrown huge parties at their two locations with hot dog eating contests, cold beer, and traditional BBQ fare; including pulled pork sandwiches. 4. Stars 'n' Bars | Monaco

With stunning views of Monaco's yacht-filled harbor, the Stars 'n' Bars restaurant offers a truly beautiful setting to enjoy a bit of American-themed sights, sounds, and food. You'll find a typical menu of burgers, steaks, and other standards – as well as one of the largest celebrity sports collections in the world; including signed jerseys, rackets, balls, and even a real F1 racing car. This being Monaco, the restaurant is known for being a draw for famous faces from all around the world – so keep an eye out while you slurp down that root beer float.


5. Tinseltown American Diner and Milkshake Bar | United Kingdom

Since 1996, the Tinseltown American Diner and Milkshake Bar has focused on providing an experience similar to eateries in New York City. With the U.K. having such a large amount of American expats, it's no surprise then that the diner has since expanded to nearly a dozen locations. Their extensive menu contains such classics as Chicago hot dogs, Buffalo chicken wings, Manhattan wraps, and even Central Park cheesecake. Want another sweet reason to visit? The diner's shake bar contains 45 variations on the American classic to make any expat feel like their own Main Street, USA.
