Are drones the newest trend in wedding videos?
That robot hovering over your ceremony is your best shot at capturing the joy of your special day.
Robots may not be able to feel emotion, but they sure know how to capture it. As more people are clued into the expansive beauty that can be achieved from a drone video, they're starting to incorporate these handy hovercrafts into everyday life – vacations, weddings, parades, festivals, hikes, beach parties ... basically anywhere multiple people congregate to enjoy the outdoors.
At the same time, professional videographers are starting to see the benefits of this relatively new technique, offering drone videos as an option for clients. After all, what better way to harness the spectacular views and picturesque landscape of that wedding venue than by sending your camera into unmanned flight?
"It's like having another shooter with you, getting angles that you couldn't normally achieve from a tripod or on the ground," Fernando Decillis, a photographer based in Atlanta, told From The Grapevine. "And when you combine that with the emotion and joy you see at a wedding, I can definitely see why couples would want to use a drone to film their wedding, and why photographers would want to invest in them."
As an example of the magic of drone photography, below is an expertly executed video montage of various weddings in Israel:
This technique works best if you've got a friend in the biz, as evidenced by this video by a Portland, Oregon, owner of a video production company, who attended the wedding of two close friends and conveniently brought his drone along:
And this gorgeous moving panorama of a Greek couple's nuptials is sure to have you getting to the church on time:
So next time you're at a wedding, look up, smile and say, "Robot cheese!"
