Waffle grilled cheese
Eat like a kid again, and make it even easier with grilled cheese in a waffle iron.
Grilled cheese sandwiches are one of the easiest things to make, which is why so many grown-ups like you (admit it!) are still eating them on a regular basis. But did you know there's a way to make them that's even easier, and faster? By making it in your waffle maker! This way, there's no pesky flipping, and it cuts cooking time with all that direct heat.
Ingredients
- 2 slices sandwich bread
- 3 ounces cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons salted butter, room temperature
Directions
Preheat the waffle iron while you make the sandwiches.
Spread one slice of bread with butter, only on one side. This is the side that comes in contact with the iron.
Place the cheese slices on top of this slice of bread, then spread the other slice of bread with butter, also only on one side.
Place the unbuttered side against the cheese.
Add the sandwich to the iron and close it, but do not press down and smash the sandwich.
Let this cook for 3-5 minutes until the bread is brown and crispy and the cheese has melted.
