Tahini-free hummus

If you can't find tahini or don't have it on hand, you can still make smooth, delicious hummus.

  • Yield: 1 1/4 cup
  • Prep time: 5 minutes

Looking for a hummus recipe you can make using items you probably already have? Try this tahini-free recipe. No special ingredients needed!


  • 1 15-ounce can garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • Parsley
  • Paprika


Add the lemon juice, garlic, and salt to a food processor. Pulse until garlic is chopped.

Add in the garbanzo beans and olive oil, puree until smooth.

Transfer the hummus to a dip bowl and top with chopped parsley, paprika and olive oil.

I served this with some flax seed tortilla chips.
