Scotch whiskey caramel milkshake

Learn how to turn a childhood favorite into a delicious summer cocktail.

  • Yield: 2 milkshakes
  • Prep time: 10 minutes

If you happen to love salted caramel (I mean, who doesn't?) and you fancy yourself a whiskey lover, this is the dessert recipe for you. The caramel sauce is an easy food hack but just as good as traditional caramel. Plus it is boozed up with some Scotch whiskey! It's served over a simple malted milkshake that is TDF. This is the kind of recipe that makes adulting worth it.

Salted caramel sauce with Scotch Whiskey

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup half and half
  • 4 tablespoons butter, unsalted
  • 1 tablespoon Scotch whiskey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Malt milkshake

  • 4 tablespoons malted milk powder
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 8 scoops vanilla ice cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Dash of sea salt

For the caramel:

In a small saucepan, warm the half and half over a medium heat. Add the butter and melt it. Add in the brown sugar, mix to combine.

Bring the mixture to a low simmer; careful not to burn. Cook for five minutes, whisking gently.

Remove from heat and add vanilla and scotch. Let cool.

For the milkshake:

Add milk, malt, vanilla, and salt. Add in ice cream and blend until smooth.

Drizzle salted caramel into two glasses. Add milkshake.

Top with whipped cream, more caramel, chocolate sprinkles and a maraschino cherry.
