Pumpkin pie smoothie
The sippable flavors of fall, in only 5 minutes' time.
How can you celebrate fall or any of its holidays without a delicious slice of pumpkin pie? It's a staple. I myself want to eat my weight in pie this time of year, so this healthy smoothie helps me not do that.
You've probably seen pumpkins in the supermarket, and I wanted to take a moment to educate you about them. The trickiest one of all is the sugar pie pumpkin. It sounds delicious, no?'
Though they look cute and delicious, using canned pumpkin puree instead of pure pumpkin is the wiser decision for this smoothie. (Photo: Jerry James Stone)
But if you have ever cooked one of these pumpkins, you know how disappointing they can be. They are nothing like pumpkin from a can. The reason is that canned pumpkin is closer to butternut squash than those pumpkins.
Sugar pie pumpkins are nothing like their name implies. They aren't sweet, and they aren't great for pie. Or anything food-related, if you ask me. I'd rather just carve those pumpkins than eat them. That said, let's make this delicious smoothie.
Ingredients
- 1 15-ounce can pumpkin puree
- 1 banana
- 1/4 cup almond milk
- 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1/4 cup honey
- A few ice cubes
- Chia seeds
Directions
Add the pumpkin puree, banana, almond milk, spice, honey and ice to a blender. Blend until super smooth.
Garnish the smoothie with some chia seeds for texture.
