Peanut butter hummus

It sounds odd, but this flavor pairing actually makes sense.

Hummus is a great snack. It is healthy and fairly easy to make – if you have everything on hand. Tahini is probably the most pesky of all its ingredients. Well, you can make delicious hummus without it. Natural peanut butter is a great substitution for tahini when it comes to hummus!

Honestly, no one will know otherwise. The peanut butter makes the hummus just as creamy, and seriously, I almost prefer it to tahini. But don't tell anyone I said that.


  • 2 15-ounce cans chickpeas, drained
  • 1/3 cup natural unsalted peanut butter*
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Paprika


Add all of the ingredients to a food processor and process until smooth and whipped. You may need to add more olive oil when processing.

To serve, drizzle with olive oil and dust with paprika.

*A note about peanut butters you can use: Natural ones are best that are sodium free and especially sugar free. Creamy is better than crunchy. If you use crunchy, people are going to know that you used peanut butter.
