Nutty farro breakfast

It's an ancient and often-overlooked grain, but farro is about to become your new favorite breakfast.

  • Cook time: 30 minutes

Did you know that any grain can be eaten as a cereal? Really! I love farro for its nutty flavor and hearty build. It is a great way to start the day. Here is an easy recipe for enjoying this grain in the morning.


  • 1 cup farro
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon pine nuts
  • 1/3 cup dried strawberries
  • 1/4 cup crushed walnuts


Cook the farro like you would pasta. Bring a pot of water to a boil, add the brown sugar, and then the farro. Cook for 30 minutes until tender. This is a hack for cooking tougher grains.

Strain farro.

Serve farro with your milk of choice. Top with pine nuts, walnuts, and strawberries.
