Marbled mashed potatoes

A brilliant combination that adds color and unique flavor to your favorite side dish.

  • Yield: Serves 4-8
  • Prep time: 10 minutes
  • Cook time: 30 minutes

Looking for a fun fall side dish? These mashed potatoes are as visually stunning as they are tasty. Plus now you don't have to decide between sweet potatoes or regular mashed potatoes!

  • 3 pounds Yukon gold potatoes
  • 3 pounds sweet potatoes
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream, warmed
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Add both potatoes to a large saucepan and cover with water. Add salt and bring to a simmer. Cook until they are easily pierced with a fork.

Drain the potatoes, and peel them.

Place the sweet potatoes in one bowl, add half of the butter and cream and mash them until smooth.

Do the same for the yukon golds. Don't overmash them, though, because overworked potatoes can get gooey and sticky.

Add the potatoes to a serving dish, a scoop from each at a time, and then mix them together. Finish with cracked pepper.
