


Mango kefir smoothie bowl
A different kind of breakfast, and one that'll start your day just right.
If you are looking for a healthy start to your day, you must try these smoothie bowls. Made with kefir, this combination is both good and good for you. Yeah, it’s a bit cliche to say… but it is also true.
If you're not familiar with kefir, it's a thick milk drink that's similar to yogurt. It's popular in Eastern Europe and parts of the Mediterranean, and it's becoming increasingly trendy in the U.S. Aside from turning it into a lovely breakfast, you can also use it in baking – it's a suitable substitute for buttermilk.
Mango and kefir are a great combo. It tastes like a more tart version of a mango lassi. The honey is really a suggestion, but you can omit it if you love tart foods. Be sure to check out this tip on cutting a mango, if you are slicing the fruit yourself.
Ingredients
- 12 ounces fresh mango chunks
- 1/2 cup kefir
- 1 teaspoon honey
- Chopped almonds
- Poppy seeds
Directions
Add the mango chunks, kefir, honey and a handful of ice to a blender. Blend until smooth.
Add more honey for desired sweetness.
Divide the smoothie into two bowls.
Top with almonds and poppyseeds.
