It's the simple things. No really. Take this simple oil infusion for example. You can make it as garlicky or herb-flavored as you want. It is highly customizable, and it makes everything you use it on just bit better; a bit more personal. It's great for dipping bread in, tossing with salad, drizzled over steamed veggies, or whatever you love oil on. And it makes a great gift!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup olive oil
  • 5 cloves garlic, peeled and scored
  • 1 sprig thyme

Directions

First off, the video below is a great trick for peeling a whole bulb of garlic in seconds, just to save you some time.

Add the garlic, thyme and oil to a eight ounce mason jar. Seal, and store in a dark cool place.

Depending on how intense you want the flavor, let the oil infuse between 1 and 3 days, shaking it a couple times each day.

Strain the oil. It is important to remove all food particles as they will eventually break down and mold. Place the oil in a clean jar.
