Frozen banana pops with toffee crunch

A delicious frozen dessert with half the calories and all the fudge, crunch and fun.

Not being the biggest ice cream fan, I can usually be found buying the kiddie-size scoop, or just using a small tasting cup and I’m good to go. I find ice cream to be just a tad too sweet, and can only handle a small amount. But – and this is critical – in the summer sometimes I need me some cool, frozen treats. Enter the frozen banana topped with chocolate fudge and all manner of delicious toppings. It looks like an ice cream bar, acts like it, yet has more nutritional value and a whole lot less sugar.

And no, the magic shell isn’t made of superfoods. But you’re eating a frozen banana instead of a boatload of rich ice cream. Life’s a balance.


  • 2 large ripe bananas
  • 1 bottle Magic Shell chocolate topping
  • 1 cup Heath toffee bits
  • 4 6-inch wooden skewers


Peel bananas, and slice in half. Slide a skewer into each half, and freeze until solid.

Pour magic shell into a wide bowl, and Heath bits into a second bowl.

Coat each banana half with magic shell, using a spoon to cover completely. Working quickly, and before shell completely hardens (which happens fast!). sprinkle with Heath bits.

Lay on a serving platter and repeat with remaining bananas. Keep frozen until ready to serve.
