


Cinnamon caramel apple waffles
Frozen waffles for breakfast may seem mundane. This recipe offers an easy, delicious way to jazz them up.
Winter time is perfect for creative breakfast ideas. It's cold out, you are stuck inside, so you might as well enjoy it – and not get stuck with run-of-the-mill, bland frozen waffles. Isn't it time to jazz them up?
Ingredients
- 3 granny smith apples, cored and sliced
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon corn starch
- Frozen waffles
Directions
Add half of the butter to a large skillet and melt over a medium low heat, then add in apples.
Saute apples until tender, golden brown.
Add remaining butter and melt.
Add brown sugar, water, cinnamon, and salt to melted butter. Gently whisk over a medium heat for a few minutes until ingredients combine.
Bring to a very low simmer and add in corn starch.
Cook the frozen waffles per instructions while the caramel apple sauce simmers.
After sauce has cooked for about 2 minutes, remove from heat.
Top waffles with sauce.
