Chunky pear sauce
Pear chunks slow cooked with cinnamon sticks yield an out-of-this-world tasty dessert, with only 2 ingredients needed.
Living with some very health-conscious family members means I end up going out of my box (think bakery box) when planning meals and desserts. I gotta say – I definitely benefit from the deal. I tried cooking these pear chunks to make something special for the one I love most, and just to prove my love, didn’t eat the whole pot. This chunky pear sauce is amazingly fresh tasting, with the flavor and sweetness of pear, a hint of cinnamon, and a perfect soft and chunky texture.
- 5 assorted ripe pears
- 2 cinnamon sticks
Cut pears into medium-sized chunks. If desired, you can peel the pears, but it’s not necessary.
Place in a medium pot with cinnamon sticks and cook on medium heat until soft, but still chunky.
Keep lid tilted to allow steam to escape. You do not need to add water, the water content of the fruit will keep it from burning.
Cool, and then refrigerate. You can serve cold or reheated.
