Chocolate peanut butter drizzled popcorn
Make your popcorn really pop with this simple and quick recipe.
One of my favorite seasonal snacks is the peppermint and chocolate drizzled popcorn that shows up on the shelves around the winter holidays. This gourmet snacks run about $4 for a bag that serves two on a good day, one if it’s been stressful.
But alas – I have discovered you can make your own chocolate drizzled popcorn, customize the drizzle, add your favorite nuts, and yield a much larger portion for a fraction of the price. And you can do it all year round!
- 1/2 bag chocolate chips
- 1/2 bag peanut butter chips
- 1 cup peanut halves, optional
- 1 large bag kettle corn, or
- 10-12 cup homemade popcorn
Put chocolate and peanut butter chips into two microwave safe bowls. Heat for 2-3 minutes on medium heat.
Remove from microwave and stir well. If chips still hold their shape, heat for another minute or two.
Transfer melted chocolate to a small Ziploc bag. Repeat with peanut butter chips. Seal bags well, removing all air.
Snip a tiny corner off each bag with a scissor.
Drizzle melted chocolate and peanut butter chips over popcorn.
Place in fridge to harden for 10-15 minutes. Break up chunks, serve, and enjoy!
*You can use white, butterscotch, mint or any kind of chocolate chips to customize the drizzle to your taste. Go crazy and mix a bunch together, and then add several kinds of nuts to create an out of this world, sweet and crunchy snack.
