Apple pie smoothie
Start the day with a healthy smoothie that tastes like dessert and takes minutes to whip up? I’m in.
I’m a girl with a sweet tooth, but I also enjoy and appreciate healthy foods – and feel much better when I eat healthy. And yes – they say life’s a balance – but that doesn’t mean a Diet Coke and a donut for breakfast.
It’s a quick, kid-friendly breakfast, and one even donut- loving husbands will drink down eagerly. Perfect for guests who visit over the holidays, too. You can call it “the morning after detox” – they’ll call it delicious, and think you’re the coolest family member ever.
- 2 medium apples (gala or honeycrisp work well)
- 1 1/2 cup almond milk
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 6 pitted dates
- 1 tablespoon ground golden flax seed
- Handful of raw walnuts (6-8)
Peel, quarter and core the apples.
Place all ingredients in blender or food processor. Blend until smooth.
Pour into two glasses, and serve with straws. Enjoy!
