Remember the other day when we mentioned that Michelle MacLaren dropped out as the director of "Wonder Woman," starring Israeli actress Gal Gadot as the superhero, and we gave three candidates to replace her? And remember when we mentioned that she was the second female director to drop out of a comic series adaptation? What we didn't mention was the name of the other director in that category: Patty Jenkins. She has a pretty good resume, having directed Charlize Theron to an Oscar in "Monster," but she dropped out of Marvel's "Thor 2."

But now, she's signed on as the director for "Wonder Woman," according to The Hollywood Reporter, giving her the chance to be the first woman to direct a feature based on a comic book series. There was a rumor posted on Collider.com that Angelina Jolie was in the running for the job, but that may have been just speculation, though the same article says she's being considered for "Captain Marvel" as well.

So fans of Wonder Woman, or Gadot, can breathe easy, as the blockbuster is back on track for its 2017 release. Of course, Gadot's first appearance as the Amazonian princess will be in "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice," which will be out in March 2016. Ahead of the release of the first official trailer for the movie, director Zack Snyder tweeted a teaser trailer. We're sure the full trailer will give us a glimpse of Gadot, but let this whet your appetite until Monday.
