Watch Oz Pearlman predict a Taylor Swift presidency on the 'Today' show
Mentalist wows anchors with jaw-dropping trick.
We're knee-deep into election season, and there might be a new candidate on the ballot: Taylor Swift.
Allow us to explain: Oz Pearlman, the 33-year-old Israeli-born mentalist who made it to the finals of "America's Got Talent," made an appearance on the "Today" show this morning. Offering up a pile of magazines, he asked two of the hosts to flip through the pages and for each of them to find a long word. Meanwhile, he asked Al Roker to name a celebrity whom he would like to see run for president. At first he answered George Clooney, and then quickly changed his mind to Taylor Swift.
What Pearlman did next will leave you speechless. Watch what happened in the video below:
The finale was Pearlman ripping his shirt off to reveal a "Taylor Swift for President" T-shirt on underneath, which promoted this response from co-anchor Tamryn Hall: "Are you human?" Dylan Dreyer, who's seen Pearlman perform a few times on the morning show, echoed that sentiment: "This is the most in shock I've ever been," she said.
"The hosts were freaking out so much they couldn't do the next segment," Pearlman told From The Grapevine shortly after he walked off the set. So the producers bumped the next segment and had Pearlman stick around to chat and do another trick, which you can see in the video below:
The "Today Show" performance is just the start to Pearlman's busy day. Later today, he'll be performing at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York in the pediatric cancer unit. The magician and mentalist will be going room to room performing for the kids. "It's nice to be able to give back," Pearlman told us.
Before we hung up, we had one question for Pearlman about a moment during his "Today" trick that left us stumped. What would he have done if Roker hadn't changed his mind and stuck with George Clooney? He pauses and then, in a very un-magician like way, revealed a secret: "I had George Clooney on my underwear!"
