'The Band's Visit' by the numbers
The hit Broadway musical has been nominated for 11 Tony Awards, but that's not the only number worth singing about.
A band of lost musicians walks into a small-town cafe. It sounds like it might be the beginning of a joke. But it's actually the premise of the hit Broadway show "The Band's Visit." The musical comedy – about a band that boards the wrong bus and ends up in the Israeli town of Bet Hatikva – is based on the Israeli movie of the same name.
The Broadway show's popularity has some people comparing it to "Hamilton," and has won accolades since it opened last year. The New York Times raved that it's "one of the most ravishing musicals you will ever be seduced by."
