Supermodel Bar Refaeli has 'The X Factor'
The hit reality show makes its Israel debut.
Do you sing like Celine and move like Beyoncé? Are you a twelve-year-old boy with a falsetto so good that people mistake you for Kelly Clarkson? If these are among your talents, you could be a contestant on The X Factor, the UK reality show export that’s now on its third season in the US. The X Factor premiered in Israel this fall with a lot of hype thanks in part to the show’s sizzling host – Israeli supermodel Bar Refaeli.
In The X Factor, vocalists compete before a panel of judges, who double as mentors, for the chance to win a lucrative recording contract. Guys forever being compared to the boys of One Direction (swoon!) can thank the X Factor for bringing that band together.
Bar Refaeli, the 28-year-old Hod HaSharon-born stunner, was voted number one on Maxim’s 2012 Hot List and has graced the cover of the 2009 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue as well as countless other magazines. She’s been the face of Chanel and Victoria’s Secret, and she’s the envy of any girl who has ever seen Titanic and dreamed of bedding Jack Dawson (she dated Leonardo DiCaprio for five years). Though The X Factor could be a huge professional move for the model, Refaeli said she didn't take the hosting gig to further her television career.
Whether The X Factor will be popular in Israel remains to be seen, but Refaeli is confident that it will be a hit. “All over the world people love realities and X Factor puts together good music and a little bit of comedy in such a way that you see what real people go through. You see how anxious and how excited they are and some times it is very emotional.”
