5 of the greatest performances by the Susan Boyle of Israel
Rose Fostanes impresses as 'The X Factor: Israel' winner.
The Israeli version of Simon Cowell's worldwide mega-hit reality series, The X Factor, concluded its first season recently. The winner? A woman from the Phillipines named Rose "Osang" Fostanes. The 47-year-old had never sung in public before the competition – drawing numerous comparisons to Susan Boyle who rose to fame on Britain's Got Talent.
Hosted by supermodel Bar Refaeli, The X Factor ran on the Reshet network and translated well enough to the new setting that it should likely see a second season.
The win for Fostanes followed an unlikely rise to the top of the contestant pool when the Israel public really started to rally around the vocal powerhouse. Her rousing rendition of Frank Sinatra's "My Way" sealed the deal for Fontanes and made her both a fan favorite and the very first winner of The X Factor: Israel.
