New 'Goosebumps' trailer promises nostalgia and laughter
The recently debuted video gives a sneak peek into the new movie based on the '90s children's horror books.
A collective gasp of excitement emerged from an entire generation of 1990s kids when the new trailer for the beloved creepy books, “Goosebumps,” made a huge splash on the Internet yesterday.
The R.L. Stine series kept many of us Millennials up at night, flashlight poised carefully under covers, and the TV show that aired from 1995 to 1998 kept us all on the edge of our seats when it brought the stories to life.
The new trailer stars American comic actor Jack Black as the writer of the “Goosebumps” books and up-and-coming Israeli actress Odeya Rush (aka the mini-Mila Kunis) as his daughter. American teen actor Dylan Minnette plays the concerned boy-next-door-turned-unlikely-hero, as they all work together to return the monsters released by opening the books.
What’s so interesting about the premise of the movie is that it celebrates the books themselves in keeping them in tangible form. It’s not just one book come to life, like the television showed portrayed – it’s all of the books, a veritable rush of nostalgia.
Viewers are likely to reminisce about their own experiences reading the “Goosebumps” books throughout the movie, because let’s face it: If you didn’t have nightmares of the “Goosebumps” books coming to life, you weren’t reading them right.
"Goosebumps" will premiere in theaters this October, just in time for Halloween.
