Our favorite celebrities 'ham' it up for a good cause
#Ham4All is this year's Ice Bucket Challenge, and it seems like everyone is participating.
First, there was the Ice Bucket Challenge. Then came the Mannequin Challenge. This summer's viral campaign is the #Ham4All Challenge. And like its predecessors, it's all for a good cause. Launched by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the mastermind behind the hit Broadway musical "Hamilton," the #Ham4All Challenge helps recognize the important work of immigrants to the United States.
Watch Miranda explain the challenge here:
Not surprisingly, lots of people have joined the campaign to support the cause, and to hopefully win two tickets to the opening night of "Hamilton" in Los Angeles. Some of the entrants have come from Manuel's cadre of celebrity friends who are, in turn, challenging their own celebrity friends. Below, we round up some of our favorites:
Who knew the star of "Zoolander" and "There's Something About Mary" could keep such a beat? We nominate the American-born comedic actor to play Aaron Burr in the inevitable movie adaptation of "Hamilton."
The Israeli actress surprised us all with her mad rapping skills in the video above. And there was more, too: "Instagram cut me off at one minute, but I went on and on and basically finished the album," she said. Turns out Grobglas can do a lot more than just portray TV's best villain on "Jane the Virgin."
Ayesha and Stephen Curry
The leading scorer of the championship-winning Golden State Warriors can bob and weave off the court as well – although he left the bulk of the singing to his Canadian-American wife Ayesha (and a surprise guest cameo at the end). Their video has already been viewed nearly 2 million times.
The American actress ("The Daily Show," "Newsroom") found herself with some free time while waiting in an airport lounge and decided to join the cause. One of the stars of "X-Men: Apocalypse," might she be auditioning for a musical superhero movie?
While on vacation in Iceland, the Latino star of NBC's "Superstore" and former star of "Ugly Betty" shows she has the skills and passion to be a Broadway star. And with a name like America, she seems destined to be a part of "Hamilton" lore.
