5 hilarious videos with the stars of 'Game of Thrones'
From dinner with Jon Snow to The Mountain's love of sparkling water, here are some very funny spoofs inspired by the hit fantasy drama.
Are you ready for another thrilling season of "Game of Thrones?" HBO's hit fantasy drama returns later this month, setting the stage for a whole new cast of characters, plot lines and surprises.
Where will the White Walkers strike next? Is a certain favorite character truly dead? And just how will newcomers Ania Bukstein and Yousef Sweid, veterans of the Israeli television and theater scene, British actor Ian McShane, and Swaziland star Richard E. Grant factor into the drama of Westeros?
Before the lights go down and the mood grows serious with the show's iconic title sequence, we thought it would be fun to kick off Season 6 with a bit of hilarity. American actor Peter Dinklage may get all the laughs on-screen, but as these short clips show, he's not the only cast member capable of tickling our funny bone.
Game of Thrones' Melisandre attends Seth Meyers' baby shower
Melisandre, played by Dutch actress Carice van Houten, is a magical priestess on "Game of Thrones" who serves the Lord of Light and is always 100% creepy. Naturally, as American comedian Seth Meyers discovers, inviting such a character to your wife's baby shower isn't exactly the greatest of ideas.
SodaStream's April Fool's prank with 'The Mountain'
SodaStream, an Israeli company that specializes in home carbonation drinks, created this hilarious April Fool's video with "Game of Thrones" star Hafthór Júlíus "Thor" Björnsson. The Icelandic actor, who plays Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane, claims in the spoof commercial that the secret to his strength can be found in a sparkling water brand called "Heavy Bubbles."
Preview of Season 6 from 'Saturday Night Live'
Of all the menacing creatures featured on "Game of Thrones," it's the dragons under the command of Daenerys Targaryen, played by English actress Emilia Clarke, that consistently steal the spotlight. In this rare exclusive, "Saturday Night Live" takes viewers behind the scenes of Season 6 to show how German-based special effects firm Pixomondo really pulls off these magical creatures.
Jon Snow is a terrible dinner guest
How does the doom and gloom of the Night's Watch fit into a lively Manhattan dinner party? As it turns out, not well. "Late Night" host Seth Meyers shows what happens when Jon Snow, played by British actor Kit Harrington, attempts to mingle with those unaware that "winter is coming."
Coldplay's 'Game of Thrones Musical'
One of the most complicated and brilliant "Game of Thrones" spoofs came courtesy of British band Coldplay, which put together a "rockumentary" of sorts chronicling the making of a Broadway musical version of the series. The fun was all in support of Red Nose Day, an annual comedy fundraising event in the U.K.
Besides Coldplay, there are cameos from a good chunk of the "Thrones" cast, as well as voiceover work by Irish actor Liam Neeson and some really, really, terrible singing. Needless to say, "Game of Thrones: The Musical" will not be appearing in our much-vaunted showtunes quiz anytime soon.
