Fans cheer image of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, revealed at San Diego Comic-Con

The Israeli actress looks ready for superhero battle in her Amazon-princess costume.

A few months ago, Warner Bros. announced that Israeli actress Gal Gadot ("Fast & Furious") had signed on to portray Wonder Woman in the upcoming franchise entry "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice."

The coveted role puts Gadot alongside Ben Affleck, who takes over the role of Batman, and Henry Cavill, suiting up for a second time as the Man of Steel.

Since the announcement, fans have either cheered the casting of Gadot or expressed doubts that she could ever "look the part."

Those fears were put to rest on Saturday as Warner Bros. allowed director Zack Snyder to reveal the very first photo of Gadot in full Wonder Woman garb. The image (below) was unveiled during the annual San Diego Comic-Con, and has since been retweeted more than 12,000 times. Fans went wild, and we here at From the Grapevine couldn't possibly be more excited for an even more extensive look at the film.

The fan reaction has been pretty great so far, at least according to many of the tweets on Twitter:

One thing's for sure, we know Gal Gadot is ready:

Do you think Gadot has what it takes to fill the Amazonian superheroine's boots?
