Who made Beyonce's wedding renewal dress?
Spoiler: it's Israeli designer Galia Lahav.
Beyonce and Jay-Z are on tour. During one of their concerts, they play clips from their wedding renewal ceremony on a giant screen behind them. And check out Beyonce's beautiful white dress! I mean, I don't know much about wedding dresses, but I'm told that this one is "show-stopping."
Then again, so what if Beyonce is wearing the dress? The real story is the blood, sweat and tears that went into making said dress. And those bodily fluids belong to no other than Israeli designer Galia Lahav.
“I create something new and modern for brides,” Lahav told From The Grapevine. “I have always wanted to combine modern-day fashion with bridal gowns while moving in a direction that is not known to be the traditional bridal gown. I believe that is what sets me apart, the fact that I bring a new fashion to brides.”
Those brides tend to be Beyonce types.
The Galia Lahav dress that Beyonce wore is called the "Thelma," and you can see a model wearing it below:
“I do a lot of custom made dresses for elite clients around the world,” says Lahav. “The most expensive dress that I have created was a custom one priced at $70,000.”
That may seem like a lot of money, but that vow renewal part of the show? Super important. The whole concert is largely centered around how Beyonce and Jay-Z worked through their relationship issues. Unlike most couples, they did this in front of the world.
On one hand, that must have taken a lot of courage. On the other hand, it also kind of reminds me of the time someone dumped me in college, and then we ended up in the same playwriting class, and we both wrote awkward plays about the breakup.
